Millie Bobby Brown: Star transforms into Enola Holmes in a period petticoat dress as she arrives on set of film adaptation

The Enola Holmes Mysteries novel series was first published in 2006, following the title character who, on her 14th birthday, discovers her mother has disappeared. Enola's brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, deduce that their mother has left voluntarily, but Enola discovers ciphers her mother left behind.

Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter and Sam Claflin are also set to star in the movie

Filming got under way for the Enola Holmes adaptation in London on July, 2019. Fans of the Nancy Springer novel got a glimpse of Millie Bobby Brown as the titular character. The actress, 15, was seen in traditional period costume as she arrived on set, flanked by a number of security guards and her dad.

Millie emerged from a building in the red floral patterned floor-length dress, which featured ruffles on the neckline and cuffs. In keeping with the period setting, the formal gown had a corset bodice and ruffled petticoat.

Millie looked worlds away from her Stranger Things character Eleven, wearing her hair up in an elegant chignon and a minimal make-up look. The Stranger Things legend leads the star-studded cast as the much younger sister of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. And her superstar status meant she was provided extra security on set, to prevent fans from interrupting the scenes.

Earlier this month, Millie was seen filming scenes for the upcoming film adaptation, directed by Harry Bradbeer. The actress looked relaxed as she rode to-and-fro on a bicycle, while wearing an orange crop-top that she paired with a frilly white skirt in Buckinghamshire.

While her brothers try to send Enola to boarding school, Enola runs away to London, solving a number of mysteries along the way while trying to evade her siblings.

The Nancy Springer novel series spans six books, starting with 2006's The Case of the Missing Marquess. It has yet to be been confirmed if this movie will be taken directly from this first book.

Other primary characters are Mycroft Holmes played by Sam Claflin (Hunger Games), Inspector Lestrade and Lord Tewskbury. Adeel Akhtar (Murdered by My Father), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Frances de la Tour (Into the Woods), Louis Partridge (Medici), Susan Wokoma (Chewing Gum) and Burn Gorman (Pacific Rim, Turn) have also been cast in the movie.
